@rockcityaudio That is the very same mind set I have when it comes to food. Before I eat I run for 20 to 60 mins simulating the “hunt”. Thats the problem with allot of people they don’t understand that just like all animals we are made to work for every meal.

people should not be confused…its simple think about it!.
imagine you are in the wild,I mean really out there surviving.
all food will be limited and no chips no bread or useless foods from packets grow on trees.
so small amounts of fruits, small amounts of meat/ fish and good amounts of veggies. don’t eat meat everyday(skilled hunters don’t!)its too hard to catch!.
no oils,no cookies,no chips, no sodas, nothing that’s packaged and processed.
and a nice drink of water now and again. that’s it!

I lowered my carb intake for about a week I think it was and everyone noticed i’d lost weight. I think I must have lost about 5 pounds, it was such a suprise, but you have to stick to it otherwise it all comes back!

  7. mzoljones Says:

the Atkins diet that I follow emphasizes eating plenty of vegetables…Atkins is LOW carb…I eat everything except for white flour, sugar, & processed foods…what’s unhealthy about that??

  8. mzoljones Says:

thanks for caring! Been eating the Atkins way for 2 years, I have lost 103lbs, and I have had my blood workup x3 in the past year…and the results were excellent each time! I have tons of energy and I feel wonderful!

  9. mzoljones Says:

u know absolutely NOTHING about the atkins diet…I’ve read the book and followed this way of eating for 2 years… Atkins emphasizes eating plenty of vegetables, fish, chicken, healthy fat such as almonds, avocado, etc…where did you get your “tons of bacon” info……obviously from someone who was NOT doing the Atkins diet …eating tons of bacon unhealthy and stupid as hell….and no fruit, LOL! FYI, I eat everything except for white flour, processed foods, and sugar….

  10. zegonzales Says:

Its a LIE that Atkins eliminate fruit. many people can eat up to 80 or even 100 grams of carbohydrate on mantainance , thats a lot of room for fruits and vegetables, specially fruit which is antioxidant and phytochemically rich.

  11. grace23fun Says:

why are people buying into a diet that says you can have like tons of bacon but not an apple because it has carbs! WTF!

  12. pistasheo Says:

hopefully all y’all people loving atkins have had a full blood workup and everything’s healthy

Dr. Atkins has been a lifesaver for many, including me and my carb-intolerant family. :) I’ve been low-carbing now for six years, and there’s no way I’d change it.

Naysayers need to get their heads out of their rears and take a look at how it’s helped people get their bloodsugar, cholesterol, appetite, and such under control.

I have noticed that the atkins diet is a normalizer! if you have bodyfat to lose, you will natuarally eat a bit less, but if you’re working out with weights, your apetite will increase naturally to repair muscle :O. I was a sceptic to this diet just a few weeks ago, untill I realised I have gained weight on it, but at the same time, lost body fat! And no more blood sugar crashes :)

  16. talusan909 Says:

Dr Atkins diet helped me not only to lose 50 lbs of fat/toxins but also helped me understand why I got fat. My blood pressure excellent, cholesterol down, look younger, energetic, and above all, I feel healthy. Coupled this diet with exercise and discipline to care for my health…..life is good.

My Husbands cholesterol level halved on Atkins.

  21. joeylodes Says:

The people who don’t understand this diet simply don’t understand the biochemistry involved. they must educate themselves. in a nut shell…

    Insulin is the bad guy.

LDL (the bad cholesterol) receptors are INCREASED in adipocytes (fat cells) by …. you guessed it … insulin! Not good … it simply makes you STORE MORE FAT!

Also, Glycerol-3-Phosphate (G3P) is the backbone of triglycerides (fat). and it is an intermediate of CARBOHYDRATE metabolism, NOT fat metabolism!

  22. jscaforlife Says:

So thankful for Dr. Atkins!! I’ve lost a lot of weight in my lifetime, after each of my 3 pregnancies in which I gained a lot of weight. I would eat barely anything and have hardly enough energy to function. I have ruined my metabolism, trying to diet time and time again. I’m down to those last few pounds and Atkins has helped me lose weight when all else has been failing me. I’ve recently lost seven pounds and I feel GREAT!!! TOTALLY LOVE ATKINS!!

  23. tiggie1975 Says:

    Excellent book!

  24. emptypub Says:

The Atkins diet is very close to the French diet, and pre the American junk food on Europe, the French are known to love their food and remain thin.
I have been to France and I can tell you, you can consume a lot of steak, cream, and green leafy veg over there.
They however do eat bread and pastries, but it is not consumed before bed and any old time of the day.
