Should you Hire a Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach

So you are debating whether to hire a personal trainer or fitness coach. Let us look at the difference between having a personal trainer and not.
I am going to start off by guessing that you want to keep the weight off for the long haul so we will consider this a 3 month program for comparing the numbers. The average personal training program will be 3 times a week for 30 minutes a day. This will not include the time you will spend doing cardio as there is not much sense paying someone to watch you use a cardio machine.
Cost of Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach
- Average cost $60 per hour X 1.5 hours per week = $90 per week. – A 12 week program will run you $90 X 12 = $1080
Included with a Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach
- A workout plan – A nutrition plan – A personal trainer – Motivation, spotter and someone to record you workouts.
Cost of training on your own
- Fitness Articles Free. – Information from an e-book runs $40 to $150. Higher priced includes more books and nutrition info. Some even include personal coaching through e-mail.

Included using fitness articles and fitness e-books
- A workout plan – A nutrition plan
The Disadvantages of a personal trainer or fitness coach are:
- Having to conform to the schedule of the trainer. Booking what is convenient with them and not you. – Some personal trainers may not be as knowledgeable as they appear. Some gyms create the program and basically anyone with a bit of training can walk you through them. – Some personal trainers are not even in shape themselves. If they ca not do it themselves how are they suppose to help you? – The cost is outrageous. – What happens when you can no longer afford them. Eventually you will need to change your workout. Then what do you do?
Advantages of training on your own with knowledge from fitness articles and fitness e-books:
- Pride from being able to say you reached your goals by yourself. – Workout to your own schedule. – Construct you workout to suit yourself not some generic workout that everyone is doing. You will save time in the gym by not using the same machines as everyone else. – You can workout at home and also save the cost of the gym if you choose to. – Save money!
Most of the Personal training exercises are done on the machines in the gym and everyone else that is using a personal trainer is doing the same exercises. This makes harder for you to get on these machines as they are being used all the time. These machine exercises are not necessarily better for you either. You can get a much better workout with free weights.
In conclusion it looks like it is basically costing you $900 to have someone watch you workout. I am sure you are knowledgeable enough to write down your workout and you can choose many exercises for you workout that you do not require a spotter for.
These are simply my views on the subject. Please consult your doctor before starting a new fitness or nutrition routine.

Iliotibial band stretches can also be referred to as IT band stretches. So, what on earth is IT band? IT band is known as a group of thick fibers which originates on the outside of your thigh and simply balances the whole leg. In any activity for instance sprinting, trekking as well as jumping, your IT band becomes tight and inflamed. It takes place from the hip bone and extends right down to the tibia – shin bone that is just underneath the knee-joint.
